Corporate Social Responsibility

Since April 2016, Jeanie JQ Accessory Company has been working with various organisations using the ‘Ability Rosette’. This product was developed to help improve the quality of life of the physically challenged in society through financial support. The company developed the rosette to help raise funds for orphans, physically challenged and the visually impaired in society. This is done as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

On the World Orphans day, 20th April 2016, the company partnered with other organisations to give skill training to the orphans at the New Life Nungua Childrens Home, Accra Ghana. The children were trained to make the rosettes for the first time. On the 21st of May, of the same year, some visually impaired students from the Akropong School for the Blind mounted the catwalk and modelled the rosettes amongst other collections on a runway show to prove that ‘disability is not inability’.

It is a rosette which can be worn on an outfit as brooch or in the hair as a fascinator. It is the only fashion accessory of the company used to support charity. It has been patronised and used for weddings, parties and by various organisations. The tag line during these occasions has always been ‘look good and change a life’.

It is the belief of the Creative Director Jeanette Quashie, that all people have the ABILITY to excel when given the chance, the ABILITY to help others and ourselves. ‘We are capable of doing things beyond our imagination’ Hence the name of the product.

Since its inception, various physically challenged individuals have benefitted from proceeds of the Rosette sales. The first to benefit were the students at the Akropong School for the Blind in Ghana in 2016 and various orphanages enjoyed the proceeds in 2017.  In 2018, two physically challenged individuals were identified and a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of the products were given to them for their upkeep in the first half of the year. The proceeds from the second half of 2018 was donated to the Foundation of Orthopaedics and Complex Spine (FOCOS).

The Jeanie JQ Company still actively pursues and will support various charities in years to come.
